Day 4, July 7

We woke up and took off for what I was hoping would be our best day yet. First stop was Le Pont Du Gard. It is a piece of a Roman aqueduct built in 59 AD. It carried water from a spring into the city of Nimes. We were told that it was cool to swim in the river at the base of the bridge, so we wore our bathing suits. The water was freezing, we could only get in up to our ankles before we were done.

We had some really yummy icecream, and then headed out. We were going to Avignon. This is where the palace of the popes was built in the 14th century. It is a walled city and has a lot of theaters. There were performers all over trying to get you to come see their play. We walked around and had lunch. I think the most beautiful people in the World must live in Avignon. There were hundreds and hundreds of people that we were sure had to be super models. It was a very neat city. If I had to live in France I think I would chose Avignon.

After we left Avignon we just drove through Provence. It was really pretty, a lot of vineyards and rolling hills.

I don't know what it is about men and breakfast cereal. French breakfasts are yummy! I know that is a little random, but when you were talking about breakfast it made me laugh. I could totally sympathize! Anyway, I am just fascinated by all the posts from your trip. It really looks like a great vacation. All of the architecture and history is fabulous and your pictures are awesome. It looks like you had a very exhausting and worthwhile time. :)
