Day 2 July5, 2010

We woke up and headed down to the cafe beneath our hotel for some breakfast, I was so looking forward to this.  French breakfast is the best, pastries, and bread, and cheese, and fruit.  Oh yeah and Chocolate chaud!  I ate so much bread and cheese.  Poor Matt wasn't as excited about the breakfast as I was, I think he is more of a cold cereal guy, or better yet, Ramen  Noodles (the breakfast of champions).

After breakfast we headed out, it was a cold rainy day, but we were determined to make the most of it.  We were headed to Le Mont St Michel.  I have been wanting to see this ever since my High School french teacher mentioned it.  All the other times I had been in France we didn't get to go because we didn't have a car and it is pretty far away from Paris.  Anyway, I am rambling.  We drove for about 30 minutes and then we saw it in the distance.  When we got there it was really raining and Matt didn't pack any warm clothes.  He ended up wrapping a t-shirt around his arms to stay warm.
Le Mont St Michel is an Abbey that was built in the 10th century.  It is on a tiny island out in the English channel.  Pilgrims used to make their way out here on religious pilgrimages.  It was only accessible during low tide until recently when a causeway was built.  It is like a tiny little town with hotels, restaurants, and shops.  There is also the abbey and another small church.
