Piano Recital

Amelia had her end of the year piano recital on Sunday.  She played two of the songs she had memorized from her judging a couple weeks ago.  She also got to finally bring home her certificate from her judging so we were able to see all the judges comments.  I am so impressed with how well she is playing.  I don't have musical talent, so I find it so fascinating that one of my kids can do something that I can't!  I love it, the other day she sat down and taught me how to play part of a Cold Play song.  I think she thought it was fun to teach me something that I didn't know.  She also got a medal, and a pin.  My grandma stayed an extra day so she could come see Amelia play.  Good Job Amelia!!!

Dance Recital

We had our dance recital this last weekend.  I was working at the studio this year so I got to spend both shows back stage.  It was so exciting.  I love the energy backstage!  I had 6 pieces that I choreographed in the show, and the girls were in 9 of the performances.  I actually danced in one of the routines, because one of the moms from my Mommy and Me class was sick.  I got to dance with the cutest little redhead ever!  It was a lot of fun!  We kept busy!  I didn't get any pictures from the recital unfortunately.  Hopefully someone else did.
My Grandma came from AL to watch the girls perform, we really loved having her here visiting with us.  She was a huge help with the girls during the dress rehearsal, I just hope we didn't tire her out!

Southern Lights

I already posted about how I was working with the youth from our ward to put together a Cultural Celebration in honor of the Atlanta Temple Rededication.  The big performance was on April 30, it was amazing.  I was lucky enough to get a ticket to see the show, there weren't very many available.  The youth worked so hard, I am so proud of them. Most of them don't come from a performing type background, but they went out on that big stage and danced and sang their hearts out for the prophet and the audience.  The church news had an article about the celebration.

Happy Birthday Shelby

Shelby celebrated her 10th birthday on April 6th.  I am super slow posting pics.  We celebrated in UT with Grandma and Grandpa Knighton, she got to go to the mall with Grandma and pick out some presents.  She also got a couple wii games and some itunes giftcards.  It is hard to buy her presents now that she is growing up.  We are super proud of Shelby, she is a great sister, a great daughter, a really good student, and an excellent dancer.  She keeps busy, but still maintains the highest percentage in her class.  I am happy that she is such a hard worker.

Piano

Amelia had the opportunity to play piano for a judge. She memorized 7 songs, and she received a perfect score.  We are really proud of how quickly she is picking up the piano.  She loves it, we never have to remind her to practice.

Last competition of the season!!!

We had the last dance competition of the season.  It was up in Athens, GA.  I had never been up there, but it is a really nice college town.  Matt's parents came into town to help out with the girls during the crazy weekend, and they got to watch Shelby and Audry perform.  It was a lot of fun.  Shelby's team kicked butt!  They got First and Second Place over all, and they took first place in each of their categories.  They also got some other awards I think, but not sure what they all were, I had to leave early, but Matt stayed with Shelby for the awards.  She performed around 3, and the awards weren't until 9:45 pm.  Audry's team got High Gold.  It was a fun season and the girls did a great job.
