ACI

Matt had his surgery on his knee today. We arrived at the facility at 8:30 and didn't leave until 4:00. A long day!!! The surgery was very successful. The surgeon removed the damaged parts of cartilage. He then sewed on a collagen cover. After that he injected Matt's own cartilage cells behind the collagen cover. The cells will take a full year to mature! He will be on crutches for 6-8 weeks, and will have to take it easy for a full year. Beware if you have a weak stomach these pics are nasty :D

Halloween Costumes

This year our girls decided all of their costumes had to be ballerina costumes. Shelby wanted to be a Witch/Ballerina. I think I accomplished it! Here is a pic. I haven't finished anyone else's costumes 100% yet, but when I do I will post some pics of those too.

Mother of all Spiders

This was in my backyard, I was taking some weeds to throw into the woods (we are not allowed to throw away yard waste) and I almost ran into this. YIKES!!! I am sure Matt wont venture out of the house ever again. Oh yeah and I found a black widow while pulling weeds in the garden. Oh the joys of living in the South where we have freaky big bugs!

Gardening

For all of you out west I am sure you have already enoyed all the wonderful veggies from your gardens...Our wierd garden has decided to just barely start producing anything. We have had a cherry tomato here or there, and about 16 green beens so far, but now our tomato plants have gone crazy, they are growning everywhere and we have about 30 green tomatoes on the plants. We also have several cucumbers even though most of the cucumber leaves are now dead. We have our first watermellon and are very very excited about it. The watermelon plant has gone crazy it is taking over our entire garden. You can see in the pic that the vine is growing all the way down the length of our garden, I spent a lot of time tonight detangling it from the tomato plants and the cucumbers. It had also grown out of the garden and was wrapped around blades of grass. Out of control! Anyway we are looking forward to having all of our garden veggies ready sometime around Christmas :D

RIP George O'Malley

Ok am I just lame or did you all cry for almost the entire season premier of Grey's Anatomy? It was the saddest episode ever, and that is saying a lot concidering the show. I love this show and I am so excited it is Fall so that I can watch it :D

When it rains it pours

I am sure you have all heard about the crazy amount of rain we have received down here in the South. I have had several phone calls and text messages checking to make sure we were still alive and not under 10 feet of water. The girls school is cancelled tomorrow because of the rain and flooding. Now here is the wierd thing. It didn't even rain at my house today. It was hot and sunny and humid and I mowed the lawn. Flood? Seriously? I know that in some parts of Georgia the flooding is really bad and it makes sense to cancel those schools. But seriously? Why cancel school here when the streets are dry and there are absolutely no puddles anywhere around? I know it is supposed to rain tomorrow too, but I am pretty sure the buses could still make it to and from school safely. I think it is just an excuse for a day off. So now I get to decide what to do tomorrow with a house full of bored kids who can't even go outside and play.

The Flu

So apparently the flu vacines didn't make it to Georgia in time. According to our pediatrician we are having an Influenza B outbreak here. Well lucky us Shelby has it. Luckily this is not the really bad type of influenza. She is just sick and has a high fever, but a couple years ago all three older girls had type a and type b at the same time and it was awful!!!
The really bad thing is that Shelby can't go to school and she really loves to get perfect attendance. She was super mad that the doctor told her she couldn't go to school untill she was better!

Amelia gets sent to the office

We had parent teacher conferences tonight. It is always interesting to go talk to Amelia's teachers. You never know what they are going to say. Amelia is super creative. Like so creative that it is actually a problem. Here is a perfect example. She loves to make up stories and illustrate them, she also likes to make up stories and tell them to people. The other day at school there was a sub. Amelia walked into class, dropped her backpack down and said, "wow I am worn out, that is a long walk!" Well at our school you are not allowed to walk, you either have to take the bus or be dropped off by your parent. Any way....The teacher asked where do you live that you are allowed to walk to school? Amelia said, "No I am supposed to ride the bus, but these two boys threw me out the window and I had to walk the rest of the way." The sub then sent her to the office to talk to the principle because she was worried and thought the principle should talk to the boys and the bus driver. Luckily the principle realized the story was not true. Here is what makes me upset, she didn't get into any trouble for telling this huge lie, they just laughed and said oh Amelia you are too funny! Ummmm not funny!!! She had the sub completely freaked out.
Anyone have any ideas of things we could use as a creative outlet? Apparently Ballet isn't cutting it!

French Doors

Since we were stuck in the ATL for Labor Day with no place to go and nothing to do we decided to do a little Labor around the house. We asked our friend(Matt's personal assistant/better half :D) to come over and help us out because Matt is kind of out of commision right now.
We put in some french doors to block our front room off from the foyer. I think they turned out really nice!
They spent all day Monday putting them in, then I spent the next day sanding, priming, and painting them. Matt had to go out of town for a business trip so while he was gone I decided to paint the foyer. I'm not sure what I was thinking. Sophia decided to help me out by dumping the can of paint all over herself and the kitchen table. So I had to stop to get that cleaned up but I got most of the foyer done by myself before he came home, he did have to help with the very highest parts, I wasn't quite tall, or brave, enough to reach. We also put some stuff on the windows so you can't really see in or out, but they still let light in.
