Summer 2012

A lot has happened since my last post, but you know how it goes, busy, busy, busy!  The girls are doing well for the most part.  We are currently battling some eczema with Sophia.  She has had eczema since she was born, but it keeps getting infected.  We have a dermatology appointment today, hopefully we can get some answers.

The girls spent a week with their cousins in Minnesota.  They had an amazing time.  We wish we lived closer to family.  Thanks again Aunt Jill and Uncle Mike for keeping them for us.

While the girls were in Minnesota, Matt and I went to Dallas.  Matt had to go for work, and I thought Id tag along.  It ended up being a crazy trip.  I had to fly from ATL to MSP, then to LGA, had a 5 hour layover there, then finally made it to DFW.  It was a nice relaxing week hanging out by the pool and shopping, and spending time with Matt in the evenings.  I caught up on a lot of reading!
We also discovered the Green Market in Piedmont Park this Summer.  I really enjoyed walking through the park and buying fresh produce from the vendors.  We tried out some organic Popsicles that had crazy flavors.  They were really good.  Amelia had a little boy walk up to her in the park and give her a flower...it was adorable!

What do you do in ATL when in is over 100 and you don't have a pool?  Slip N Slide!!
We met some friends from Dance who aren't originally from here either, and we decided we would be brave together and go explore Lake Jackson's Public beach.  It was a lot of fun, other than the ants.

Some of our friends found out they are moving to Chicago... We will miss them, but now have an excuse to go visit Chicago.  We went to a Gwinnet Braves baseball game with them and other families from work this Summer.  The girls loved it!

Matt got to relive his youth.  We went to a Def Leppard and Poison concert.  It was 109 degrees!!!!

Matt and I have started taking Ballroom dance lessons.  It is really a lot of fun, each week after our lesson we stay for a party to practice our skills.  During the Summer the parties were themed, so this is Matt dressed up as Clark Kent!

Matt turned 37 in July.  We drove down to Tybee Island for the weekend to celebrate.  It was a lot of fun.  Not sure why we waited 10 years to drive down there.  It is an island near Savannah.  The beach was really pretty.  Much nicer than I was expecting.

The girls started school the first of August. Shelby started Middle School and is liking it so far.  Sophia stated PreK at the elementary school.  She is such a big girl!!!  She is definitely spunkier than the other girls.  She is the first one of our kids to come home with a note from the teacher about her behavior, and it is only the third or fourth week of school.  Crazy kid!  She just needs to work on not talking to all the boys all the time.  Ha ha ha.

Our friends, the Mizes, invited us to spend the weekend with them at their lake house.  It was so much fun.  We all got to try out the big tube, and Audry was even brave enough to try the tube you lay down on.  They have 5 kids and we have 4, so the Lake house was packed!!  Thanks Mizes!!

Our garden hasn't done great this Summer, about the only thing to really turn out was the tomatoes and we ended up with so many of those that we had to give away buckets and buckets full.  We do have two pumpkins that haven't been eaten by ants.  Hopefully they will survive until October.

Hopefully now that the kids are back in school I will do a better job of keeping up on here.

My goodness you have been busy! Your trips and adventures sound wonderful! I especially love the fact that you and the hubby are taking ball room dancing! How fun is that!!

Wow your kids start school early! We just started today. Obviously..... It's the first time I have been able to sit and catch up on friends blogs in months!

Take care - good luck with your social butterfly. :)

Liz,

I bet those videos are down right hilarious! I remember feeling like I looked ridiculous. Perhaps that is why I never bought any videos! So, I am not sure if I would find it entertaining enough to drown out my embarrassment. HA!

My girls aren't in dance. Isn't that sad!? I blame it on the jobs my husband has had. It took him ten years to get through school. During which time he got an internship that led to a good job. That entire job lasted three years before the economy took a hit. Since then we have been floundering around. We are finally in a job that has good future potential. Too bad it will take us a while to recover from that year of unemployment.

I feel so guilty for not providing opportunities for my kids. No piano, No dance.... nothing but community soccer. I really hope that we can do those things in the near future. And I hope it won't be too late for the girls to find something they are exceptional at.

Hope you and the family are doing great!
